The earliest industrial magnetic separator for weakly magnetic minerals is dry type, which is widely used for separating manganese ore, oxidized or semi-oxidized iron ore, coastal placer, wolframite, tin ore and phosphate ore, etc.Dry type strong magnetic separator according to its structure can be divided into four categories: induction roller type, disk type, drum type and permanent magnetic roller type.

The magnetic roller is composed of electromagnetic system, sorting system and transmission system. In order to reduce eddy current heating and transmission power, the magnetic roller is overlapped alternately with thin magnetic steel sheets and non-magnetic discs.

2) dry electromagnetic disc type strong magnetic separator
It is suitable for the separation of weakly magnetic ores with a specific magnetic susceptibility greater than 5.0 x 10-7m3/kg and a particle size less than 2mm.It is mainly used for the concentration of coarse concentrates containing rare metal minerals (such as coarse tungsten concentrate, ilmenite, zirconium and monazite).
3) dry roller type strong magnetic separator
It is composed of ore feeding hopper, weak magnetic feeding barrel, induction unloading roller, magnetic roller and ore receiving hopper.Two magnetic rollers are relatively configured to form a closed magnetic circuit.The two magnetic rollers are driven by worm gear reducer and rotate relative to each other.The induction unloading roller is made of industrial pure iron and its surface is processed into a prismatic projection.
Application: it is used to separate (coarse, select and sweep) materials with particle size less than 3mm containing a variety of different magnetic minerals.
Application of wet magnetic separation equipment
Common wet magnetic separator: wet weak magnetic separator (magnetic water tank, permanent magnet cylindrical magnetic separator), wet strong magnetic separator (wet induction roller strong magnetic separator, Jones type wet strong magnetic separator flat ring magnetic separator).

1) magnetic flume
Features:
Simple structure, no running parts, easy maintenance, simple operation, large processing capacity, no power consumption.The disadvantage is that the coarse gangue cannot be drained away.
Application:
Mainly used for the removal of fine gangue and slime, sometimes also used for concentration and dehydration.
2) permanent magnet cylindrical magnetic separator
Permanent magnet drum magnetic separator is a kind of magnetic separator widely used in magnetic separation plants.According to the structure of the sorting bottom box and the different flow direction of the product, it can be divided into three types: downstream type, counter-current type and semi-counter-current type.The semi-countercurrent type is the most widely used.
(a)CTS permanent magnetic drum separator
It is often used to treat coarse magnetic ore particles with particle size less than 5mm, with high operational reliability and low power consumption, but it cannot obtain the maximum recovery rate and the best concentrate quality
(b)CTN permanent magnetic separator
It is suitable for the coarse separation and sweeping of 0-0.6mm ferromagnetic ore, as well as the recovery of heavy medium in coal preparation industry.This model consumes a lot of energy.
(c)CTB permanent magnetic separator
Semi-counter-current magnetic separator is suitable for the coarse separation and selection of 0-0.5mm ferromagnetic ores, especially for the selection of 0-0.15mm ferromagnetic ores.The coarse particles in the feed can precipitate in the tank, which will worsen the separation.
2, wet strong magnetic separation equipment
It is applicable to the separation of weak magnetic minerals (such as hematite, siderite, ilmenite, etc.) with fine particles (0.03-1mm).

The application of dry magnetic separation equipment is different from that of wet magnetic separation equipment:

(3) different processes: dry magnetic separation equipment can achieve mineral separation without water, simple process.The technological process of wet magnetic separation equipment is complex.
